| Aim |
This qualification is designed to reflect the job roles of contract bookkeepers and employees performing bookkeeping tasks for organisations in a range of industries.
A Business Activity Statement (BAS) service is a tax agent service that includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Preparing or lodging an approved form about a taxpayer's liabilities, obligations or entitlements under a BAS provision;
- Giving a taxpayer advice about a BAS provision that the taxpayer can reasonably be expected to rely upon to satisfy their taxation obligations; or
- Dealing with the Commissioner on behalf of a taxpayer in relation to a BAS provision.
Persons providing a BAS service must be registered by the Tax Practitioner's Board and this qualification is currently cited as meeting the educational requirements for registration. Other conditions apply including a designated period of experience. Persons seeking BAS agent registration should check current registration requirements with the Board as this is regularly reviewed. |

Diploma of Accounting
This qualification reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries. Many of the competencies in the bookkeeping qualification are common with this one. Group 314 does not have this qualification on scope and therefore can't issue it.
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
Anyone completing the bookkeeping qualification may be interested in also completing the training and assessment qualification. This provides the necessary qualifications to be considered as a trainer/assessor in bookkeeping.
Certificate IV in Frontline Management
This qualification has a number of common factors with the bookkeeping qualification. Some Recognition of Prior Learning would be available. |

If the program is conducted as assessment only then timings will likely be much shorter than detailed below. These timings are indicative only and should be used as guidance only.
• Module 1 - approximately 9 weeks (340 hours)
• Module 2 - approximately 2 weeks (80 hours)
• Module 3 - approximately 2 weeks (80 hours)

| Documents Provided |
The documents required for this program are:
- Facilitator Guide – to provide guidance to facilitators.
- Registration – completed prior to commencing the program, contains instructions to participants.
- Learner guide - A learner guide is provided to direct participants through the learning and assessment process
- Assessment Tool – used to record the assessment process and summarise evidence.
- Assessment Tasks – One (1) per module. Three (3) in total.
- QuickBooks for Dummies - This guide is for those participants using QuickBooks (trial software provided upon request).
- Australian Bookkeepers Network Knowledge Base – 3 months free membership to access the Bookkeepers Knowledge Base.
- Evaluation Questionnaire – completed at the conclusion of the program.
- Accounting Software - Participants will require accounting software, a suitable product is available upon request.

| Assessment |
Candidates are required to provide adequate evidence of competency; this must include the completion of assessment tasks in the provided Assessment Tool – or equivalent. Detailed information regarding the assessment process is located in the ‘Instructions to Participants’ and the ‘Assessment Tool’.
Candidates are required to complete a minimum of one (1) assessment task per month using the Assessment Tool provided. The Assessment Tool must be submitted by COB on the last business day of the month for review. Incomplete tasks will be returned to the candidate for completion. Your assessor will respond with comments and/or further instructions. |
